Kelainai

Created in 2011, the Kelainai collection aims to publish the results of research carried out in the framework of an international Franco-Turkish-German project (2008-2012) on the most important urban centre of southern Phrygia: the city of Kelainai, known as Apamea in Hellenistic and Roman times.  Several volumes have been or will be published about the archaeology, epigraphy and history of this Achaemenid and Seleucid royal residence, which was described by Strabo as the most important commercial centre in Asia after Ephesus and had never been the subject of in-depth archaeological investigation.
