1. Project review

If you wish to publish a manuscript, please submit your project to the director of Ausonius Editions, providing the title, a provisional table of contents, an abstract and, in the case of the publication of an unpublished thesis or HDR dissertation, the defense report. You may wish to contact the director(s) of the relevant collection beforehand, to seek their opinion and advice. If your book fits in with the editorial mandate of Ausonius Editions, you will receive an agreement in principle.

2. Expert appraisal

Once submitted, the manuscript will undergo peer review (double blind refereeing). After examining the assessors’ reports, the editorial committee will decide whether to publish the manuscript, as is or with modifications, or to reject it. A third evaluation may be requested if opinions differ. If modifications are requested, the final manuscript must be approved by the director before the publication file is submitted. Proceedings of colloquia and collective works will be reviewed by the scientific committee or by the editors of the volume.

3. Funding

Except in special circumstances, it is customary to provide a subvention towards publication costs. You will be given an estimate so that you can seek funding from universities, research laboratories, local authorities, etc. Payment is made after signing an agreement, which stipulates the donation of a certain number of copies to the sponsor. We do not receive these subventions until the project has been formally accepted by the editorial committee.

4. Submitting the publication file

The final manuscript must be submitted with the documents and according to the standards and instructions specified in the Author's Guide. This publication file will be subject to a technical review. If the documents or illustrations do not comply with our requirements, you will be asked to modify them. You will also be asked to check that you have all the necessary authorizations and have cleared all rights for any images published. The manuscript will only enter the waiting list once it is complete and in compliance with our requirements.

5. Editorial work and publication

Manuscripts are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and it may take a few months for yours to be accepted. It will be entrusted to an editorial secretary who will be your contact during the entire production process, and who will take care of the layout and cover in accordance with the collection's design. We will ask you to proofread the first and second drafts and (if applicable) to prepare the indexes. Once the book has been published, you will receive a number of printed copies, but there is no remuneration for authors.
