Autour de Saint-Seurin : lieu, mémoire, pouvoir : des premiers temps chrétiens à la fin du Moyen âge : actes du colloque de Bord
This study includes twenty written contributions by researchers from different horizons, introduced by internationally renowned specialists. It provides the reader with an abundant synthesis of what is known about the locus of Saint-Seurin de Bordeaux, from Antiquity to the Late Middle Ages. Foremost attention has been paid to the founding period of Late Antiquity, which saw the construction and the installation of the site. Memory and Identity structure the following studies, which present in turn its monuments, cults, images and texts. The canonical community, which represented one of the major authorities in the city of Bordeaux, is studied both through the organisation of its temporal and through its architectural and sculptural productions.
