After the publication of Inscriptions Latines de Vienne, in the new collection Inscriptions Latines de Narbonnaise, two of the authors have now provided a detailed record of some one hundred Vienne inhabitants who settled elsewhere.

Les Viennois hors de Vienne, which establishes the prosopographie catalogue of all these temporary or permanent emigrants, and offers a comprehensive list of all related sources, shows just how dynamic these ancient Allobroges could be. Indeed, whether as senator, knight, notable, or soldier, or else as gladiator, teacher, merchant-trader, or craftsman, several of them were to assume far from negligible roles in the Roman Empire.
