Published with the support of the Réseau interuniversitaire d'études sur l'Afrique du Nord antique et l'Islam médiéval.
This book, published by Ausonius and the SEMPAM (Société d’étude du Maghreb préhistorique, antique et médieval), brings together the submissions delivered during a conference held on October 10 and 11, 2003 in the auditorium of the Musée d’Aquitaine in Bordeaux, in conjunction with the exhibition presented in this museum by its curator, Madame Hélène Lafont-Couturier, on the theme: Saint Augustin, une mémoire d’Algérie.
With Ausonius’ and the Université Michel de Montaigne’s support, the SEMPAM seized the opportunity for this exposition which was organised with the backing of “Djazaïr, une année de l’Algérie en France”, to bring together its members for two days of study devoted to Saint Augustin : la Numidie et la société de son temps. Following an opening conference by SEMPAM’s President Serge Lancel, here are the papers that were presented during these days, which benefited from the kind attention of Monsieur Alain Juppé, then deputy mayor of Bordeaux.
