L'Empire romain et les sociétés provinciales : recueil d'articles de Jean-Pierre Bost
Jean-Pierre Bost was professor of Ancient History and National Antiquities at Bordeaux 3 University (Ausonius Institute). His work on Roman History and more precisely ancient Aquitaine and the Iberian Peninsula is major. He is from a generation of researchers who have been able to handle with equal ease every discipline of historical science, archaeology, epigraphy, and numismatic. He has contributed to the long and tenacious work of elaborating several large corpora of sources; his erudition and the subtlety of his analyses made it possible to renew many research perspectives; finally, he has been able, through his great and simple writing skills, to elicit the interest not only of specialists but of a wider public as well. It is both the diversity and the richness of this historian’s career that this book seeks to illustrate through a selection of articles and contributions that trace back its essential contributions and reveal all their fruitfulness.
