Scripta Antiqua 61
Les affaires de Monsieur Andreau. Économie et société du monde romain
This collection brings together a series of papers in social and economic history of the Roman world to honour Jean Andreau who is now one of the best scholars in the field. Jean Andreau is first and foremost the specialist of banking and professional bankers in the Roman world but, more broadly, he investigated, in his research and his teaching, a vast number of topics in Roman economy. The present contributions are all linked, in one way or another, to some aspects of his works and the volume combines case studies and more general approaches, including analyses of individual documents, as well as historiographic reflections on various aspects of social and economic history of the Roman world: agrarian economy, trade and markets, money and social statuses. It gives a general overview of current researches in Roman economy.
