This book presents the proceedings of the international round table that took place at Université Bordeaux Montaigne on November 15, 2016 and brought together ten researchers from Aquitaine, Spain, Northern Italy, Sicily and Serbia. The discussion focused on the study of proto-historical, antique and medieval road networks. The following three themes were developed: 1 – The dialogue between historical sources (epigraphy, literary and itinerary sources) and archaeological data. 2 – New research methods and their testing in the field: Geographical Information Systems, spatial analysis, remote sensing, least cost and optimal paths, aerial and satellite images. 3 – New methods and tools for the publication (WebGIS, digital atlases, open access publications) and for the enhancement of the road heritage.
