The author uses nineteen articles which he devoted to the Argos city history. They are dealing with the city genesis and its territory, with the constitution of the city State, with the consolidation of borders, with its place into the Mediterranean world after the Roman conquest. Under the heading Points d’histoire, five articles devoted to texts, which have been known for a long time, are used, but new archaeological or epigraphic discoveries beckon to reread them in another way. Progresses made by the research since the first works’ publication have been reported whenever possible. The last chapter, Repentirs et mises au point, supplements these indications.
