Quand les cathédrales se mesuraient entre elles
L’incidence des questions hiérarchiques sur l’architecture des cathédrales en France (XIIe-XVe siècles)
This book covers the architecture of the cathedrals in the Kingdom of France, as it was in the late Middle Age. From the categories that existed at the time between the cathedrals – simple bishoprics, archbishoprics, primacy, and even patriarchal seats – the book seeks to show that this hierarchy influences the architecture of cathedrals, without this being of course systematic. The struggle between Sens and Paris, the great role of Reims or the isolation of Bourges were already well know. But many other examples are revealed here: the role of model held by Cantorbery, the place Dol occupied for a long time in Brittany, or the fight between Bourges
