L'archéologie au-delà des frontières

Jade Bajeot, Samuel Guérin & Mathilde Minotti (éd.)

The Mélanges offered to Nathalie Buchez by her colleagues and friends bring together eighteen contributions in which thirty-seven authors explore three major themes developed by Nathalie over the course of her career as an archaeologist and ceramic specialist, first at AFAN and later at Inrap.

The first theme takes us to the northeast quarter of France (Hauts-de-France and Île-de-France) and into Belgium to explore Early Protohistory through its ceramics and funerary rites. The second transports us across the Mediterranean: from Sudan to Egypt, from the Neolithic to the Predynastic period and, to a lesser extent, the early Pharaonic dynasties. Topics covered include architecture and structures built with mudbrick, subsistence strategies, funerary contexts, flint blades, and once again, ceramics.

Finally, ceramics in all its forms – the common thread of this volume – returns in the final theme, which focuses on methods applied in archaeology. This includes ceramic technology, the use of photogrammetry, and the archaeology of appearance in the pre-Pharaonic period.
