Three sanctuaries of Dougga have been selected according to the various problems of restitution posed by their architectural study. The sanctuary of Caracalla's victories, well identified and dated by epigraphy offered the opportunity to study an original monumental complex associating a temple and a triumph arch. The lack of inscriptions imposed to study the so-called temple of Pluto only on the basis of its architectural caracteristics and archeological context, a frequent situation for most of the tweety temples already registered on the site. The sanctuary of Calestis, one of the most famous in Africa, allowed to realize a precise synthesis of all the archeological, architectural and epigraphical datas.

The main axis of the pluridisciplinary research, done in the context of an international cooperation, concerned the architectural restitution of the temples. In addition to the publication of new examples this research offered the occasion to develop the theorical reflexion worth to be pursuded in the field, in general.
