Parure monumentale et paysage dans la poésie épigraphique de l’Afrique romaine. Recueil de carmina latina epigraphica
Though the dedicatory carmina (on buildings, statues or landscapes) are fewer than the funereal poems, this kind of poetry was very popular in Roman Africa, mostly during Late Antiquity. Thanks to the variety of items, of dedicators (who are sometimes mistaken with the author), of issues and of purpose, but also of the transition between metric to rhythmic poetry, they are full of interesting information about the cultural history of Africa. Here will be found a translation, critical apparatus, and commentary of 45 carmina ranging from the second half of the 2nd century to the 6th AD, together with several papers that provide more precise views on some historical or literary aspects of the poems and widens the range on the book by a comparative study.
