At first, such an alliance may appear surprising. How can castles, entirely devoted to defences and resistance, turn into a welcoming place for entertainment, this playful pleasure made to escape and end boredom? The many authors of this book took great pleasure in refuting this initial fear by highlighting the variety and strength of the bonds between castles and entertainment. Their contributions also reveal how these relations evolved according to time and countries.
