Scripta Antiqua 79
AdriAtlas et l’histoire de l’espace adriatique du VIe s. a.C. au VIIIe s. p.C.
Between East and West, the Adriatic is often forgotten in the great historical synthesis, even the most recent ones. During Antiquity, it is more a bridge than a border, with its own history made of intense exchanges between the two banks. This book is the result of an international conference held in Rome on November 4-6, 2013, following the uploading of a computerised Atlas of the ancient Adriatic (AdriAtlas). It considers successively 4 themes discussed by 35 specialists: the Adriatic in modern history and historiography; the establishment of these populations; the birth, evolution and typology of urban and rural housings and, finally, the Adriatic market – products, flows, actors and structures – from the 6th to the 8th century AD.
