Since the publication of the Inscriptions Latines des Voconces de Die, in the series of Inscriptions Latines de Narbonnaise (ILN, VII. 1), and in the framework of the corpus of the Inscriptions Latines des Voconces de Vaison (ILN, VII, 2), two authors wished to add to these two volumes the study of 65 men and women of the civitas of the Vocontii (once unified then both Dea Vocontiorum and Vasio), temporarily or definitely settled far from their homeland, in order to detect the place the Vocontii held within the Roman world. Among them 46 have left traces of their life outside their city (literary sources, inscriptions). We can identify them from the indication of their origin. 19 Vocontii are known by inscriptions which attest at least a trip out of their land; others could be migrants (seven) away from the civitas.
This volume comprises the prosopographical corpus (Livre II) of all these persons and all the sources being recorded on them. It shows the dynamism of the Vocontii (senators, equestrians, native nobiles, soldiers and simple individuals); among them, some – in particular the famous Burrus, so dear to Racine – played a part in the Roman social life from the late Republican era and during all the Principate.
